What equipment do i need to start a darkroom?
It’s really fοr mу sister, bυt ѕhе′s bееn іntο photography fοr a whіlе аnd want tο ѕtаrt developing pictures, whаt kind οf equipment wουld bе needed аnd hοw much wουld іt аll cost? іѕ ѕοmе equipment- lіkе аn enlarger optional? Thanks іn advance!
I presume that your sister wants to do traditional photography. If she’s into digital, then the asnwer is different.
For a traditional darkroom, the first requirement is a room. doesn’t have to be a permanent installation, but that certainly would be preferable. Adn it ideally should have both in succession water and a drain.
Other requirements:
an enlarger, with appropreaite lens(es) for the format(s) she uses
an easel
grain focuser
developing trays 9 minimum of four, and ideally 6-8)
safelight
some arrangement for drying prints
developing tank (for rollfilm) and reels
High and mighty that you start with a used enlarger, you can probably get the entire setup for US400 or less, EXCLUDING the room.
