My first collection of power tools: What should I buy?

I want to be “handy” around the house–I live in the country, by the way, in the rural mountains, and I have to do a lot of thing around here myself. What is the definitive list of tools that I should get to start my collection? Preferably, I would have a short list and a long list.

What I think I should have/want is the following:
drill
skill saw
sander
Dremmel
draw knife
nail gun
staple gun
hammers

Any brand suggestions/warnings?

Thanks!

I have the chance to get a cingular 8525 or a smasung Black jack for $200!! Which should i choose?

What kind of stick/equipment should I get if I want to start playing ice hockey?

Im 15 years old and I want to start playing ice hockey. I’m not getting my equipment yet, I’m taking a few more skating lessons to get all of the moves and stops down, but when I need some equipment, which kind is the best for a beginner? What brand of stick?

What brands and features of power tools should I buy for my boyfriend for Christmas?

So far I’ve been looking at Sears and Home Depot for circular saws, table saws and sanders. We build our own custom furniture sporadically, but we’ve always borrowed tools so I think it’s time we get our own. What features should I look for and is there one brand that is much better quality?

What definitive set of power tools should a person purchase for the purpose of home upgrades and repairs?

As a fairly new homeowner, I’m finding lots of little things that need to be done. Minor repairs to the garage door, minor soffit and fascia damage, repairing doors and drywall, etc. I like to have the best tool for the job, but when it comes to cutting or finishing, there are several tools more adapted for a particular job. If one were to have the perfect “toolbox” (or perhaps toy box) with practical (not highly specialized) tools, what should it contain?
Well, I did specify power tools, but I suppose that mentioning other tools is fine as well. I already have a hammer, measuring tape, cordless drill and a fairly complete socket wrench set. What’s interesting is that ‘drill’ was mentioned more than once; aside from drilling holes, I assume that others use theirs for planting screws?

I will definitely need to cut wood, but don’t know if I necessarily need a table saw. I did like the suggestion of a reciprocating saw. For those who are suggesting tools, could you please also note what types of modifications and/or repairs for which they are most useful? Many thanks!

Should there be a law against selling cavemen power tools?

What should be aware of when considering a gym membership?

In order to get some exercise, I’m considering joining a gym. I’ve read stories and reviews of how gyms are often crowded at rush hour, how employees often push for consumers to buy into plans, billing is a pain, the equipment is unavailable or really old, etc.

Despite this, I’m still considering it. What are some things I should watch out for?

What equipment should I bring to paranormal investigation?

On October 30th, through 31st, I am planning on just going to look
through my town cemetery for paranormal activity. I am very curious about ghosts, and I hope to find ghosts on camera.

If so, what equipment would be necessary, and helpful for my investigation. They also close the gates at dark so I might have to sneak in and out, or stay overnight with/without permission.

Should I buy power tools from Big Lots?

I want to buy a plunge router from Big Lots but it’s $30 and I wanted to know if anyone’s had experience with their tools. It’s made by Pro Source and I’m going to get a set for $89 that has a circular saw (5 3/8″), a jigsaw, a reciprocating saw, a light and a power drill. They are all cordless and it comes with two batteries. Is this a good deal too? Are these going to fall apart or are they good deals?
