Do you have any gift ideas for a power tool or woodworking tool for my husband who already has many tools?
Hе hаѕ several types οf hυgе saws, аnd аll thе modest power tools-drills, dremels (sp?), power sanders аnd thе lіkе. Hе іѕ ехсеllеnt аt woodworking, bυt I don’t reflect hе hаѕ many woodworking type tools. Anу guy οr girl out thеrе whο enjoys working wіth tools, whаt tools аrе уου glad уου οwn, οr whаt tools аrе οn уουr wish list??
Thanks!
a properly organized place (garage, basement) to place them. Reorganize and clean up his work area (peg board, drawers, etc) and maybe he’ll delight in that as a gift (I worked as a Professional Organizer). PS – when he has time, can he remodel my bathroom lol???
never buy a man a tool or a golf club. go with him to home depot or Lowe’s and walk through the tool dept. with him. question him ? when he looks at a tool. (what dose that do? is that a excellent one? etc.) better yet buy him a gift card
Just an opinion; but as a male; especially one who enjoys tools; I have a suggestion.
To really make it a more personal experience, and one both of you can share in; why not determine an amount you can spend; and spend the time being with him in some store that sells tools; as he picks and chooses what he might most want.
Go out to lunch after, and delight in sharing the time, and the smile on his face as he thanks you and hugs the tool (LOL) teasing.

You did not mention any bench tools such as table saws, drill press or jointer. These may be the next step but are pricey. he may want to look at these to choose which best meets his needs.
For power hand tools, I have a few suggestions. 16g brad nail gun and small portable air compressor (if he does not have a nail gun, he should. http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100039279&N=10000003+90401+3602&marketID=401&locStoreNum=8125), jig saw (don’t look any further than Bosch http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100007442
I find a grinder to be very useful too (http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100341550
email me if you want to chat a bit
Why not just get him a gift car to home depot, lowes, etc that way he can get what he wants instead of risking a duplacate tool.
a 17 inch band saw, [$400] a sears digital planer[$500]
a tenon cutter, {$300] a wood lath, w/cold tools, [$200]
a set of fostner bits, [flat bottom bits]
Get him a saw table if he doesn’t have one. They fold up when not in use so he can place it away when he’s not using it. : )
Definatly the first thing in wood you need is a table saw. They are not very expensive and are very useful.
Hello,
I am an avid woodworker and from the list of tools you mentioned it looks as if your husband likes power tools.
If he really likes woodworking you can’t get the same results with power tools that you can with hand tools.
One tool that is sort of more for collecting then using, even though I do use mine is a Stanley No. 45 planer.
They were originally made in the late 1800′s to make mouldings. The tools can now be found on eBay and usually need a modest help getting them back to 100%
The excellent thing is if he likes hand tools and he likes to fix things, you may have the perfect gift!
Just one thing to keep in mind, unless your husband is excellent with working metal, make sure you get the No.45 with all of the moulding attachments (blades), lacking them and lacking metal working experience the tool is useless!
If he knows how to work with meal he can make his own moulding blades.
To give you an thought of prices to look for, one that is in terrible shape will run you about $20 and one that is nearly perfect may run you about $100+.
The whole plane itself has 80+ parts but the main parts are the planer, the guide assembly and the blades.
I hope this helps.

There are hand tool drilling machine which works with electricity.Ease of drilling quickly lacking your husbend getting tired A excellent gift.BUT tell him not to do in your own houseas you will be hearing al noises. For other houses he can work and get money easily.
Agreew/ Jwolfy.
A gift card to a home center is a excellent thought.
Wish list….
Want to have a “biscuit” joiner.
anywhere from $99 to $ 250+.
Plenty of other nice “toys” in that price array.
Also, a warm place to work.
You are a excellent , caring, generous ,woman.
Best regards
How about a router? I have three. With the large variety of specialty bits on the market today, you can turn a simple project into a fancy project. If he already has a router you could give him a nice set of bits for it ( bits are the blades that cut different shapes)
Give the DIY Doc the 10! By far the best answer in my opinion and if my wife did that for me I would unquestionably like it!!
A excellent book or record is always very useful.
If he has woodworking books or videos, look through these and pick out something that would never make or challenge him and you would like in the house.
Either get a set of plans of the piece (if he uses them) and a gift voucher for the wood and a challenge for him to have it by a particular date(i.e. your birthday) This way you both can delight in the refined product.
Ahhh. the perfect question!
take it from me, I am the Craftsman Brand Manager. Go to www.craftsman.com and select grant a wish! the perfect gifts are broken out for every taste including the “wood worker”, “weekend warrior” or my favorite: “cool new tools” .. this is where i select gifts for the diy’ers in my family.
my favorite gift so far, by the way? the accutrac laser measuring tool. it’ll measure a distance up to 150 feet away to w/in 3/16 inch accuracy using a laser beam. i believe its on sale for around $80.
following favorite – digital level with laser pointer. only $25, looks cool uses a cool green digital read out that turns over if you flip it upside down and beeps whenever you hit perfect level, or 45 degrees, so u don’t have to look at it to tell when your spot on.
Get him a gift card, I don’t buy my wife shoes, she doesn’t buy me tools.
